Friendly Finances

When have finances ever felt “friendly”? Well, starting a year and a half ago, my husband and I determined it was time for our household finances to become our friend, rather than our foe.

Driven by a desire to take control of our lives through a deep understanding of our spending, I assumed the role of CFO.

Fast-forward to today and I can identify - down to the penny - our income, expenses, taxes, investments, etc. And, it’s extremely empowering. Money is no longer a mystery. Our behavior each week is directly translated into daily, monthly and annual views. What is the true impact of 401k contributions? Of a weekend matcha latte habit? Of daycare costs? How do my daily decisions impact my year, my next five years?
